Message From Heather: Take Our Spinning Challenge!
Winter can be a time of slacking off on cardio - itís not easy running or cycling in the cold and snow. Weíre offering a way to beat the mid-winter doldrums with our Spinning Challenge starting this month, and continuing through March.
Between February 3 and April 3, we will keep track of who puts in the most Spinning classes, but only if you sign up by emailing me. The prize for the winner is a free locker and laundry service for a month. Every time you come in for your class, your clothes will be freshly washed and put back in your personal locker.
This is the perfect opportunity to start Spinning or ramp up your routine. Spinning can burn over 600 calories a session, and itís a great way to strengthen your heart and work your legs.

Smoothie of the Month: Morning Kick
We have a new smoothie to help you get going in the morning. Our Morning Kick blends together espresso, low fat vanilla frozen yogurt, skim milk and banana. Try one in February for 15% off the regular price.
Salad of the Month: Mediterranean
Our new Mediterranean salad is loaded with heart-healthy ingredients. We top mixed greens with artichoke hearts, fresh tomatoes, white cannellini beans, toasted pine nuts, Greek olives, cucumbers, fresh grated parmesan and our house-made red wine vinaigrette. This salad will include grilled chicken on some days and our tuna salad on others. It is 421 calories, and as always, it's approved by our nutritionist Lara Kross for proper portions of fat, protein and carbs.

Recipe of the Month: Tortilla Soup with Lime Crema
Spicy turkey sausage gives this soup a kick, but you can use chicken for the protein if you donít like spicy. Radishes and cabbage boost the nutrition value of this soup.
- 3 corn tortillas
- 1 2/3 tablespoons canola oil, divided
- 1 small white onion, chopped
- 6 oz. fresh spicy turkey sausage
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon chili powder, such as ancho
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 14 oz. can no-salt-added tomatoes
- 3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 6 radishes, sliced
- 1 1/2 cups cabbage, shredded
- 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 1/2 lime
- 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
Ladle soup into 6 bowls and drizzle each with 2 teaspoons lime crema. Top with radishes and cabbage. Serves 6.
- Preheat oven 375. To make tortilla strips, brush tortillas on 1 side with 2 teaspoons oil, then stack them and cut into very thin strips, about 2 inches long. Spread on baking sheet and bake until crispy, 12 to 15 minutes.
- In a large saucepan, saute onion in 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat until soft. Slit sausage casings and crumble meat into pan, browning for about 3 minutes.
- Add oregano, chile and cumin; stir for 1 minute. Add tomatoes and their liquid, broth, and three cups of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Turn off heat and let soup stand while you prepare the crema.
- To make the lime crema, mix yogurt, lime juice and cilantro.
