A Message from Heather: Connect with Vie on Facebook & Twitter!
Creating a place for a community of people energized by balanced, healthy living has always been central to Vie's mission.  Facebook and Twitter are great new tools for connecting with that community.

If you have a Facebook account join the Vie Fitness & Spa Group and stay in touch with upcoming plans and events, like our complimentary training for the Dexter/Ann Arbor half marathon (see article below).

We'll also send out tweets on our Twitter account, keeping you informed on up-to-the-minute specials, discounts on spa services and class information.  Recently we broadcasted a Lululemon "micro sale" for two hours, and  let folks know that we had complimentary smoothie shots to share.

Finally, we've also enhanced our page on Yelp.  Yelp is a fun and easy way to talk about and review places in the community.  If you or someone you know wants to share your experience at Vie, this is a great place to do it.

I'm looking forward to all of these ways to keep in touch with Vie people!  Of course, you can always contact me directly at heather@viefit.com.

Happy Spring!
Heather

Boot Camp in the Arb Begins May 4th
If you love working out in the morning in the beauty of natural surroundings, you'll absolutely love our Boot Camp in the Arb.  If you have ever run through the Nicholas Arboretum, you know the inspiration those scenic views can bring.

Our Boot Camp in the Arb incorporates running, lunges, push-ups, tricep dips, ab work and more.  Nature trails, hills, wooden stairs, benches and our own body weight are all we need to get a full-body strength and cardio workout.

We'll meet at the Geddes Road main entrance at 6:00 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Monday, May 4th through Thursday June, 26th.  Sign up before April 15th and get an early bird discount.  Sixteen boot camps are $240 before the 15th and $288 if you sign up after the 15th.  Class is limited to 12 participants, and Heather will lead the class.

This is a great way to get super fit before summer! To register, please call 734-665-2156 or email heather@viefit.com.

More Vie Bar Classes Added
Vie Bar has exploded!  These classes are so popular that we are adding several  more classes to the schedule:

Saturdays, 10:45 AM (Heather)
Sundays, 12:00 PM (Heather)
Tuesdays, 5:30 PM (Danielle Alphonse)
Wednesdays, 9:30 AM (Barb Bassett)
Thursdays, 5:30 PM (Heather)

Vie Bar uses the ballet bar for intense leg work and light weights with high repetitions for upper body work.  It combines ballet, Pilates and strength exercises, with no rests in between, making for a burning, high-intensity work out.  People who do it say, "It's hard, but I love it!"  Call early to sign up - these classes fill up fast.
Baby Vie Bar Starts
May 6th
Vie is expanding to include babies in our workouts!  With all the new moms coming to Vie we've decided to add Baby Vie Bar beginning Wednesday, May 6th.

This class is for anyone with a stroller-sized baby.  Heather (new mom herself) will lead the class in the Arb, using the stroller for support for squats, lunges, calf raises, upper body and ab work.

This series runs for eight weeks and is $96 for those who register before April 15th.  After April 15th the cost is $120. Everyone will meet at the hospital parking lot entrance to the Arb.  For further information please email Heather at heather@viefit.com.

Train with Heather for the Dexter/Ann Arbor Run
We're just about over this long winter and can look forward to three wonderful  seasons ahead of us!  It's time to dig out your running shoes and start training for the annual Ann Arbor/Dexter half marathon on May 31st. The half marathon (13.1 miles) starts in Dexter and ends downtown where the "Taste of Ann Arbor" will be in full swing.

If you're interested in training for the half marathon, Vie is offering a complimentary training handout, as well as a once per week group run on Saturdays at 7:00 AM, starting April 4th led by Heather.  She is following the Hal Higdon training program, beginning with an eight mile run the first day.  Here is a breakdown of the schedule:

Week #1- 8 miles
Week # 2- 6 miles
Week # 3-  9 miles
Week#4- 10 miles
Week #5- 9 miles
Week#6-11 miles
Week#7-12 miles
Week #8 Half Marathon

The group will start and finish at Vie, with a complimentary protein shake waiting for everyone at the finish line.

This is a great opportunity for those who have a good running base and are ready for a half marathon.  You should be putting in at least 20 miles per week to begin this training program.  If you do not have a strong running base, the Dexter/Ann Arbor run offers a 5K or 10K run as well.  Vie will provide a training handout for those who want a shorter run.  This handout allows you to train on your own or with a friend for the 5K or 10K and is broken down for beginner, intermediate and advanced runners.

If you have more questions about our complimentary training program, contact Heather at heather@viefit.com.  For more details about the Dexter/Ann Arbor Run, go to www.dexterannarborrun.com.
