We're Celebrating our 5th Anniversary!
I can't believe it's our Fifth Anniversary already! As I say on our website's welcome page,
when I moved here from Vancouver in 2002 I had a vision of creating a
place that inspired me toward balanced, healthy living everyday.
I
wanted to work with people to create a gym that was not really a gym,
but a third place. A place that brings together soaring architectural
and interior design elements, with a holistic set of invigorating
services: drop-in for a personal training session or fitness class,
freshen up with complimentary Pure Fiji shower products, and slip into
a robe for a massage and pedicure, followed by a bit of lounging at the
raw juice bar with a healthy salad.
The
time has flown by. We've watched our clientele grow and made new
friends along the way. I’m excited about what we’ve built over the
last five years with the help of you, our staff and the Ann Arbor
community.
Our
year-long celebration kicks off Sunday, July 12th when we'll offer free
smoothies to the public (see article below). We'll celebrate in a new
way every month, and we'll keep you informed, so please take us up on
our offerings and celebrate with us!
We're
full of ideas and I'm thrilled to be starting our next five-year march
toward finding even better ways to serve Ann Arbor with opportunities
for balanced, healthy living! Thank you for being a part of it!

Introducing our "Healthy Start" Weight-Loss Program
Do you need a little help getting your healthy lifestyle started? Or maybe you've fallen off track and need some encouragement and guidance getting back on. We now have a program that can help you on your way to learning how to eat properly and exercise regularly. Our
new "Healthy Start" program provides you on-going access to our
nutritionist, Lara Kross to plan a healthy way of eating customized to
you. Vie will provide healthy, delicious entree salads with the right
amount of calories, fat, protein and carbohydrates according to your
lifestyle.

Free Smoothies Kick Off Our Anniversary!
Come in on Sunday, July 12th and enjoy a smoothie on us! This is the first of many ways we'll celebrate our Fifth Anniversary. Choose from our Strawberry Vie, (strawberries, bananas, skim milk and frozen yogurt), Monkey's Lunch, (peanut butter, chocolate frozen yogurt, skim milk), and Pom Chill (pomegranate juice, orange juice, strawberries and mangoes). Sit at our outdoor cafe tables or in our lobby and enjoy on us! Each month we'll celebrate in a new way, so take advantage of it and help us celebrate our five years in business!

Our reusable Vie water bottles are scheduled to be
here by July 8th! These are high quality, 22-ounce aluminum bottles
with our Vie logo. They also commemorate our fifth anniversary and
include a key chain top.
The water bottles are great for filling up with our
citrus-infused cold water available upstairs. We'll of course still
provide bottles of water on request, but encourage everyone to bring
their own reusable bottle when convenient.

A combination of fresh squeezed carrots and orange juice blend together for a healthy, juicy cocktail. Light and refreshing, it has 185 calories, 3 grams of protein and 36 grams of carbs with no fat. Whether your preference is steak or chicken, these tacos are filling, full of protein and make a great summertime dinner. For the steak or chicken:
1 tablespoon chili powder 2 teaspoons lime zest 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chile powder 1 teaspoon cumin 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 (1 lb.) flank steak (or 4 small chicken breasts) For the salsa:
1 cup diced avocado 3/4 cup chopped tomato 1/2 cup black beans, drained and rinsed 1/3 cup chopped sweet or red onion 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco 8 (6-inch) corn tortillas
2 cups chopped romaine lettuce 1.
Combine chili power, lime zest, chipotle chile powder, cumin, salt and
pepper, and rub generously on both sides of the steak. Cover and chill
at least 1 hour.
2. Prepare grill to medium-high heat. Place steak on grill rack coated with cooking spray, and grill about 8 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let stand 10 minutes. Cut steak diagonally, across the grain into 1/4 inch slices. 3. To prepare salsa, combine all salsa ingredients and stir together. 4. Warm corn tortillas lightly on the grill. Spoon steak evenly over tortillas and top each with 1/4 cup salsa and chopped romaine. Serves 4 (2 tacos each). Calories per serving (2 tacos): 353; Fat: 16 g. (less for chicken); Protein: 31 g.; Carbohydrates: 31 g.
