A Message from Heather: Responding to Client Suggestions
At Vie we’re lucky to have a great staff in place to help take care of the many aspects of running Vie.  That allows me to carve out time during the week to focus on listening to and fulfilling client requests.  In this month’s newsletter you’ll find three new features spawned from your suggestions.

Vie has been the venue of a number of great events in the past.  We’ve hosted several open-houses showcasing art from the Washington Street Gallery, countless spa parties, birthdays, fund raising events, and even a local political event.  After each of these, clients have asked whether they can reserve Vie for future events.  Now you can.  Moreover, Vie now provides a host of services from catering to valet parking to make your event one to remember.  Visit our events page or read more below.

We’ve also heard from clients that they’d like a way to introduce friends to Vie.  Well, we can help with that.  Through the end of November, please take advantage of our beautiful Gift-of-Health gift box.  Just ask the receptionists and they’ll give you an elegantly wrapped box of goodies for your good friend.

Finally, a number of clients have asked to be notified as the schedule is updated with new, exciting classes.  Now you can add yourself to our Class Notification email list and get the latest information right away.  Just visit our email list signup page here.

Vie Now Available as Full-Service Event Space
At Vie we love a good party.  Vie has been the perfect venue for cocktail parties, charitable and corporate events, birthdays, spa parties and more. Guests mingle from floor to floor, listen to live music upstairs, or have a quieter conversation downstairs in the lounge. At our clients’ request we are opening our space for event hosting and we are taking care of the details.  With our spacious architecture, art from the Washington Street Gallery, friendly staff, unique classes and spa services, Vie provides a vibrant and stimulating atmosphere for your next event.  

We’ll also take care of all of your event needs.  Reserving Vie for an event includes a friendly bartender (hosts can bring their own wine), two attentive hosts/servers and full clean up.  Other optional services include table set up for sit-down dining for up to 35 guests, flowers, live music, quality catering and valet parking.

Our past parties have been lively, successful affairs.  As the holidays approach, consider Vie when you’re planning your next event!

As a regular client, we invite you to take a box and give it to a friend who wants to get fit.  The gift includes a fitness assessment, a gift certificate for a Spin class and personal training session with Heather.  She will go over fitness goals and perform an assessment determining cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility.  Heather will also create a recommended workout regimen based on their goals, and if interested, match them up with an appropriate trainer.

Keep Up With New Classes Online
At Vie we are always looking for the newest most innovative classes to offer our classes.  After all, one of the keys to maintaining a lifetime of fitness is to keep exercise interesting and fun with a variety of challenges.  If you want to stay in-the-know about all of our new classes, schedule changes, etc. go to our email list page and sign up for our new class notification email list.  We’ll keep you updated as things evolve at Vie.

Raw Juice of the Month:  Carrot Juice 15% Off
If you have never tried fresh carrot juice now is the time.  It’s naturally sweet, full of Vitamin A (which great for your eyes) and it’s 15% off until the end of November.   Carrot juice is known for supporting the immune system, maintaining a healthy circulatory system, as well as maintaining healthy skin and cellular function.  In addition, all vegetables contain phytonutrients, which are natural antioxidants.  So treat yourself to nutrition rich carrot juice this month!
 
Recipe of the Month:  Wild Rice with Butternut Squash & Cranberries
This is a great Thanksgiving side dish.

2 T. olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
½ cup diced carrots
1 T. minced fresh ginger
1 T. curry powder
1 t. cumin
1 clove garlic, minced
3 cups ½ inch cubes butternut squash
1 cup wild rice
1 cup long-grain brown rice
1 Fuji apple, peeled and cut to ½ inch dice
1 cinnamon stick
3 ¾ cups water
2 t. salt
½ cup dried cranberries

1.  Heat oil in a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat.  Add onion and carrot; sauté 5 minutes.

2.  Add ginger, curry powder, cumin and garlic; stir 1 minute

3.  Stir in squash, wild rice, brown rice, apple and cinnamon stick.  Add 3 ¾ cups water and salt.  Bring to a boil.

4.  Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer until water is absorbed and rice is tender, about 45 minutes.  Remove from heat.

5.  Stir in cranberries.  Cover and let stand about 10 minutes.  Season to taste with salt and pepper.  Transfer to bowl. 
 
Serves 8.  Can be made 2 hours ahead.  Let stand uncovered at room temperature.  Cover with plastic wrap; reheat in microwave.  

Nutritional Information Per Serving:  271 calories; 4 grams of fat; 5 grams of protein.
