Message From Heather & Lauren
While most businesses are starting to down-shift into the end of the year, we are doing the complete opposite. We are in overdrive now that our vision of opening our second location is happening! We are thrilled to announce that Vie at Arbor Hills on Washtenaw is scheduled for a mid-January opening!
With tons of windows and an open air feeling, our new location is a welcome oasis in the bustling shopping area. Our entrance is around the back, so the feeling of this studio is very private and peaceful. Look for the glass doors! (Free parking!!!)
We will be focusing on classes, Pilates, private stretching and functional training at Arbor Hills. In addition to some of the favorite classes offered at our downtown location (like NY Mat Pilates, Barre Intensity and yoga) will will be introducing some new programs only at the second location: ViPR (whole body strengthening through movement and resistance), Pilates Tower classes (we will have 5 towers) and dance classes (hip hop, jazz.) We are so pleased to be able to offer two location options and more accessibility to Vie's healthy, balanced, living philosophy.
We thought it might be helpful to provide a few FAQs regarding Vie at Arbor Hills.
Q: Can I use my current and future packages at either location?
A: Yes (unless it is a package specific to one location like Spinning which is only offered downtown.)
Q: Is parking available?
A: Yes, free parking! We are located in the back of the new mall on the 2nd floor.
Q: The studio is located on the 2nd floor, is there an elevator?
A: Yes, both stairs and an elevator are accessible to our clients.
Q: Can I schedule online for both locations?
A: Yes, our online system now gives you the option to chose either location.
Q: Is there a new phone number for Arbor Hills or do I call downtown?
A: Yes, our Arbor Hills studio has itís own phone (734-677-7800). Each location will have its own Front Desk for inquiries, assistance and scheduling.
We have a very special offer for packages at our new location--20% off any package for Arbor Hills purchased prior to our grand opening. We hope that you will share your love of Vie with friends and come in yourself to check out the second Vie home.
We would also like to announce that our new location has also provided our staff new growth opportunities! Currently many of our providers are becoming certified to teach our new classes and other offerings that will be announced in the coming months. We have also tapped Molly Smith as our Arbor Hills Reception Manager and Ashley Garcia as our Downtown Reception Manager. Congratulations!
We will be hosting an exclusive reception for our current Vie clients prior to our Grand Opening so be sure to check out our January newsletter for the date.
As always we are happy to answer any questions you may have and invite you to stop in to Arbor Hills to take a sneak peak at the new studio construction.
Heather & Lauren
P.S. We are hosting an appreciation event for our staff Friday evening, December 6th so we will be closing at 6 pm and opening late Saturday, December 7th at 9 am. Thanks for your understanding!

How to Change Your Life in 60 Seconds
We spend so much time living in the past and the future that we forget we're alive right here, right now. This can be one of the most unhealthy habits of all.
Stress is a silent killer ó living in a constant state of fight or flight, as if everything is an emergency, will lead to heart disease, IBS, chronic fatigue and more. Staying distracted and away from the present moment is a nasty habit, and can be just as addictive as a drug.
But fortunately, it's one of the easiest habits to break. With a simple shift from there, to here, you can save your life. From then, to now. If you become aware. If you notice.
For some, this can be frightening. We often keep ourselves numb and distracted in order to shove down and swallow feelings that we aren't yet ready to recognize and accept.
Living in the present moment will force us to come in contact with those feelings ó but only for a moment. They rise, we feel them, then they pass. After that, it's nothing but calm, and quiet.
Life is a still lake. We begin to find beauty in things once unseen. There's no stress. No anxiety. Because here, in the moment, there's truly nothing to worry about. It's all good.
So, how can you change your life in 60 seconds?
The first step is to stop what you're doing, and close your eyes.
Breathe deeply. Now, tune into your senses. Rub your fingertips together and try to feel each cell of the sensitive skin as they touch. Listen to the quiet rush of breath as it flows in through your nose. Hear the wind pushing the leaves outside. Taste the roof of your mouth. Smell the sweetness in the air. Then, open your eyes.
Welcome to the present moment. See NOW for all that it is. Recognize the folks that are around you, living their own present moment. Smile at them. Nod. Find gratitude for the subtle slowing of time. Hold onto this. Let it last.
The more often that you visit the present moment, the better your day will be. You'll wake up and smile. You'll remember to eat breakfast. You'll wave at the other drivers on the road, rather than honking.
You can think of this practice as adjusting the focus on the camera lens of your life. Often, we travel through our day with the settings all wrong and the lens fogged up. It's blurry, and nearly impossible to focus on the present moment. But if you can take 60 seconds to slow down, turn the lens gently, and find that sweet spot, you will feel infinitely better. The fog lifts. Your health improves.
Changing your life is simple. Of course, there are many elements that will take time and patience, like cleaning up your diet and healing your relationships. But living a more mindful life is attainable. In 60 seconds, you can stress less, breathe easier, and slow down. It's within your grasp, I promise.

Staff Spotlight--Molly Smith
An interview with Ms. Molly Smith, Front Desk Receptionist Manager and Personal Trainer.
Q: Where did you grow up?
M: I'm Molly from Holly (or at least that's how people refer to me back home). I grew up in Holly, Michigan (a nice small village where everyone knows everyone). I have a large family so my cousins took up a large amount of our school population :)
Q: Where did you attend school?
M: I attended U of M, Ann Arbor for 4 years studying Movement Science in the School of Kinesiology. I just graduated this past May with my Bachelors of Science.
Q: What town do you currently live in?
M: I currently live in Ann Arbor...and I don't think I will ever be able to leave!
Q: Do you have kids?
M: No kids, not yet. I do REALLY love kids though!!
M: I have a dog named Zoe. She is a Bichon Frise, but we keep her cut short like a puppy because I'm not into the fru fru look. She is completely spoiled and lives back in Holly with my parents where she commutes to work with my parents every day.
Q: What is your role at Vie?
M: I currently work Front Desk and I'm the weekend Reception Manager. I recently joined our team of Personal Trainers as well!
Q: What are you favorite things to do when you're not at work?
M: When I'm not at work I am usually babysitting, taking workout classes at Vie, or volunteering at the Sunfield Center where I help coach teens and adults with Autism in a variety of sports. Even on my days off I usually find myself venturing to Vie because I just love being here and I like to stay busy. I also enjoy heading back to Holly to spend some quality time with my older sisters and parents.
Q: What is your favorite food?
M: My favorite food...hmmm I would have to say my favorite food would be sushi or chips and guacamole.
Q: Any other fun fact about you?
M: I used to be in show choir (singing, dancing, costumes) in high school (just like Glee) :)
